Moving Lenin

The Communist Party of Tajikistan made a request to President Rahmon for moving the monument of Lenin from central park of Dushanbe closer to its office. This request was made on 7th of October when communists traditionally celebrate the Revolution Day.

The official commemorations were abandoned long time ago but, the members of communist party in Tajikistan every year on that date go to the central park to lay flowers in front of the monument and organized small gatherings with long speeches about the lost opportunities.

This monument was erected log time ago, during the Soviet Union and it is now the main monument for the local communists where they can organize gatherings during the communist holidays.

In my opinion, permission will not be given. As I know their office is located in a big governmental building where several other governmental agencies and departments are based. Also, there is located a City Procurator’s Office and most import the Ministry of Internal Affairs and finally there is not enough space for the big monument in that area.

The central park is under reconstruction, which is going to be turned into a modern entertainment park. I don’t think that the monument will fit into overall picture and finally the Dushanbe municipality will raise an issue about moving the monument somewhere else. But, where? Definitely not to the area where the communists want it to have. It means that if they want to be closer to the monument they should move their office closer to it but not visa versa.

It’s a pity to move monument Lenin to another place for communist people but today we living in democratic country, it will be better to take off every memory of communism. I will support to write articles of our Constitution except this kind of memorials, people should know about constitution of TAjikistan.
Oh my GOD, i can’t believe, still in TAjkistan we have sutiped custemers of cummunism.

Lenin statue in Dushanbe to be replaced by Rudaki statue
    Tehran Times Culture Desk

TEHRAN — The last remaining statue of Lenin in Central Park in Dushanbe, Tajikistan will be replaced by a statue of the ninth century Persian poet Rudaki.

Tajikistan’s Communist Party has asked Tajik President Emomalii Rahmon for permission to save the statue. The Communists want to transfer the statue to their party headquarters.

The statue was erected in Central Park in 1926. The park is currently being redesigned and the Rudaki statue will be erected in September 2008 to commemorate the 1150th birth anniversary of the poet.

Born in 858 in Rudak (Panjrud) in Iran’s realm in the 9th century, Rudaki was the first poet of note to compose poems in the “New Persian” written in the Arabic alphabet and widely regarded as the father of Persian poetry. He ended his life in wretched poverty in 941, having returned to his native village
