Yesterday two Tajik nationals, suspected of killing Ilyas Shurpaev - a reporter of Russian TV company Channel One – were detained in Dushanbe by the local police.

Television reporter Ilyas Shurpayev was found dead March 21 in a rented Moscow apartment with a belt around his neck and multiple knife wounds.

Although the implication of these guys in this crime was not identified by the time they were detained and interrogated by the police, the Russian mass blamed them in doing so. More than that, they were emphasizing the nationality of murderers all the time. Obviously this way of conveying information to the public by media burst an anti-Tajik sentiment among the Russian population, which can lead to more killings of Tajik nationals in Russia by Russian radicals. The even darker side of this story is that, the Russian public could hold with these killings after the murder of such celebrities as Ilyas Shurpaev.
