Who killed the Russian journalist?
Yesterday two Tajik nationals, suspected of killing Ilyas Shurpaev - a reporter of Russian TV company Channel One – were detained in Dushanbe by the local police.
Television reporter Ilyas Shurpayev was found dead March 21 in a rented Moscow apartment with a belt around his neck and multiple knife wounds.
Although the implication of these guys in commiting this crime was not identified by the time they were detained and interrogated by the police, the Russian media blamed them in doing so. More than that, they were emphasizing the nationality of murderers all the time. Obviously this way of conveying information to the public by media burst anti-Tajik sentiments among the Russian population, which can lead to more killings of Tajik nationals in Russia.
